A decade of lensless SPR, 500+ researchers, and a platform that keeps growing — Affinité Instruments turns 10.
Affinité Instruments was founded in 2015 with one mission: to provide researchers with affordable tools that deliver high-quality data and accelerate breakthroughs. The first P4SPR — nicknamed the "SPR NanoDrop" — was designed to bring label-free binding analysis to labs that couldn't justify the cost or complexity of conventional systems. Ten years later, over 500 researchers across the world are using our instruments to study interactions that matter.
From university labs to government agencies, from biotech startups to national research institutes — our instruments are running experiments at Harvard, NASA, the Max Planck Institute, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The P4SPR travels in carry-ons, sits on shared benches, and runs in environments that conventional SPR systems were never designed for.
"Affordable tools that deliver high-quality data and accelerate breakthroughs — that's the mission. It still is."
The original P4SPR was one device. Today the Affinité platform spans the P4SPR for static screening, the P4PRO for full kinetic characterization, AffiPump for precision flow control, and proprietary lensless SPR architecture that is now patented. Surface chemistry grew from 4 options to 20+ through partnerships and the Afficoat line. Software evolved from basic acquisition to AffiLabs.core — integrating control, analysis, and run quality monitoring in a single session.
The next generation of Affinité instruments is built around a simple belief: powerful SPR shouldn't require a dedicated expert, a six-figure budget, or a week of setup. We're developing flexible, low- to mid-throughput platforms that embrace the "less is more" philosophy — instruments that guide the scientist, not the other way around.
